The Fairgrounds is the City’s busiest year round facility with over 150,000 people attending events or using the facilities. The Fairgrounds is the major regional recreation facility in Watertown.

A baseball park on the grounds serves as home to the Watertown Bucks  of the Empire Professional Baseball League.  The ballpark has a capacity of 2,500 people and opened in 1938. From 1983 until 1998 it was the home of the Watertown Pirates and later the Watertown Indians of the professional New York-Penn League. [2] In 1999, the New York Penn-League franchise was moved to Staten Island.[3]
